Abstract

This month's “Gimmick and Gadget” is a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) or backflow assembly support arm which was fabricated using a 4‐in. (100‐mm) riser clamp with mounting ears cut off. A 12‐in. (300‐mm) length of 1/2‐in. (10‐mm) round stock was then welded to the outer radius of the clamp at approximately a 15 degree angle. Next, the hook was cut from the 1/2‐in. × 6‐in. (200‐mm) turnbuckle. The threaded portion of the turnbuckle was then welded to the 1/2‐in. round stock. The final step was to cut the lower portion of the turnbuckle, the round eyelet, in half.
