Abstract
A kind of similarity transformation is considered for the nonlinear Boltzmann equation with an external force term. The equation is reduced by the transformation to the Boltzmann equation without the external force term and without spatial variables as well. Some exact solutions of the Boltzmann equation having an external force term are derived by applying the present transformation to the solution obtained by Bobylev [Sov. Phys. Dokl. 20, 820 (1976)], and Krook and Wu [Phys. Rev. Lett. 36, 1107 (1976); Phys. Fluids 20, 1589 (1977)].
