Abstract

A leading parameter for the turbulence intensity profile in a channel flow is shown to be shear stress gradient β rather than Reynolds number Re*. Similarity laws such as the linear, plateau and half power law are developed. The universal wall law is realized in Couette flow with Re*≥ 100. The flow regime diagram is given to show the global parameter dependency.
