Abstract

UAVs (called drones) have been a subject of great interest in recent years due to various applications. However, they still have some technical limitations such as short flight times, limited load capacity and noise. Recently, DJI developed MAVIC Pro Plantium with two interesting features of low-noise blades and trapezoidal arrangement of blades. In the present study, we are to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of DJI MAVIC PRO Plantium by using SIMERICS MP of SIMERICS in order to improve our understanding of the aerodynamic performance of drones. First, the study on single blade analysis showed that the low-noise blade with winglet produces improved thrust as compared to the original blade without winglet. Also, the interference between multiple blades is significantly dependent on the shape of the arrangement of blades, resulting in different mean thrust and thrust fluctuations.
