Abstract

This chapter intends to impart the role of silylenes in the coordination of coinage metal complexes. The coinage metals are well known to play a crucial role in several organic transformations, and the coordinated ligands can modulate their properties. Owing to strong σ-donor properties and tunable ligand framework, the silylenes can offer an exclusive coordination environment around the coinage metal. Consequently, they hold the potential to catalyze various homogeneous organic transformations. Recently, N-heterocyclic silylene (NHSi) ligated coinage metal complexes have shown their potential as catalysts in CuAAC reaction, glycosidation reaction, and A 3 coupling reactions. However, this area is still in its infancy and needs a detailed discussion to venture into its hidden potential.
