Abstract

A new Ag(I) coordination polymer [AgL(NO3)]n1 (L = 4-benzoylpyridine hydrazone) has been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, elemental analysis, thermogravimetry and X-ray crystallography. Ag(I)-atom has a seesaw environment with a set of donors from three N-atoms of three ligands and one O-atom from one NO3− anion. Each ligand is bonded to three silver centers and each silver atom is coordinated by three ligands thereby generating two types of bimetallic metallocyclic unit to form a 1D chain. The 1D chains interact each other giving further rise to a 3D supramolecular network through multiform intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The luminescent properties of the polymer 1 at room temperature were investigated.
