Abstract

Herein, we report the facile synthesis of silver zirconate (Ag2ZrO3) via the co-precipitation method. The as-synthesized Ag2ZrO3 is employed for diversified applications viz. EOSIN Y dye-sensitized photocatalytic hydrogen production under visible light irradiation, supercapacitor application, and photoactivation of persulfate (PS) ions for decontamination of model organic pollutant (RhB). The as-synthesized Ag2ZrO3 with EOSIN Y (EY) exhibits excellent photocatalytic water splitting efficiency for hydrogen production (2288.94 μmolg−1) in just 4 h of visible light irradiation. The supercapacitor study reveals that the maximum energy density for the Ag2ZrO3 electrode is 53.2 Whkg−1 at a scan rate of 10 mVs−1. Additionally, Ag2ZrO3 also exhibits almost 100% RhB (2.1 × 10−5 M) dye degradation in just 90 min of visible light irradiation in the presence of PS. These above-mentioned applications of Ag2ZrO3 will open new avenues for a wide range of energy and environmental applications.
