Abstract

[Ag(1-Me-Ppz)]NO3 (I), where 1-Me-Ppz = C5H12N2, has been synthesized, and its crystal structure has been solved. Crystals of compound I are orthorhombic, space group Pnma, a = 10.1530(1) A, b = 6.585(1) A, c = 13.855(1) A, V = 926.3(2) A3, ρcalcd = 1.936 g/cm3, Z = 4. The structure of compound I is built of [Ag(1-Me-Ppz)]∞+ zigzag cationic polymer chains and anions. The silver atom is bonded to the two nitrogen atoms of neighboring 1-Me-Ppz molecules and NO3− has a nearly linear coordination (Ag-Navg, 2.219 A; NAgN, 174.6(2)°). Ag+ ions are weakly bonded to the oxygen atoms of NO3− ions (Ag(1)iO(2), 2.700(6) A) and link the chains into 2D supramolecular networks. NO3− anions also participate in N-HiO hydrogen bonds as acceptors of protons, thus leading to the realization of a 3D supramolecular structure.
