Abstract

Silver nanoparticles are useful for optical applications due to their intense and narrow absorption peak in the near-UV and visible spectra, the position of which can be tuned by controlling the size and shape of the deposited nanoparticles. Colloidal suspensions of triangular silver nanoprisms were prepared in water by the reduction of silver nitrate at room temperature in the presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), sodium citrate, hydrogen peroxide and sodium borohydride. The obtained colloid was used for the deposition on optical substrates of homogeneous monolayer coating of silver nanoprism for optical applications.
