Abstract

Silver nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of poly ortho-toluidine (POT) modified carbon paste electrode (n-Ag/POT/MCPE) by the electrochemical method. The electrocatalytic activity of the prepared modified electrode toward the hydrazine oxidation in alkaline solutions was evaluated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CHA) methods. The CV experiment showed that the n-Ag/POT/MCPE electrode is electrochemically active toward the hydrazine oxidation, and a sharp increment in the current of hydrazine oxidation was observed with the increase of the hydrazine concentration. CHA results show stable steady state current (I ss) for the hydrazine oxidation. A linear dependence of the I ss upon the hydrazine concentration was found in the range of 1.0 × 10−4 to 6.0 × 10−3 M hydrazine. Results imply that the n-Ag/POT/MCPE presents stable and significantly high electroactivity for the hydrazine oxidation.
