Abstract
Formation of a series of complexes between Ag + and the cysteine thiolate groups in rabbit liver zinc metallothionein (MT) and the Zn 3 -β MT 1 and Zn 4 -α MT 1 fragments is reported from analysis of the circular dichroism (CD) spectral data recorded between 5 and 55 o C during titrations of the protein with Ag + . The spectral envelopes reveal formation of Ag 12 -MT, Ag 18 -MT, Ag 6 -α MT, and Ag 6 -β MT
