Abstract

A number of Group IV element-substituted acetylenes have been prepared, including the new Me 3SiCCSiMe 2H, Me 2HSiCCSiMe 2H, Me 3SiCCCMe 3 and Me 3SnCCCMe 3. The dicobalt hexacarbonyl complexes of Me 3SnCCSnMe 3, Me 3SnCCH, Me 3GeCCGeMe 3, Me 3SnCCCMe 3, Me 3GeCCSiMe 3 and Me 3SnCCSiMe 3 have been prepared by reaction of the appropriate acetylene with dicobalt octacarbonyl. Reaction of (Me 3SnC 2H)Co 2(CO) 6 and (Me 3SnC 2CMe 3)-Co 2(CO) 6 with CH 3COCl/AlCl 3 in methylene chloride gave (CH 3COC 2H)Co 2-(CO) 6 and (CH 3COC 2CMe 3)Co 2(CO) 6, respectively.
