Abstract

The most complete characterization of Dictyochophyceae (silicoflagellate) assemblages from sediments of the Kronotskii Bay, Eastern Kamchatka, which are typical of the Corbisema hexacantha (Middle Eocene) and Naviculopsis foliacea (terminal middle-initial Late Eocene) zones in the tropical/subtropical zonation by Bukry (1981), is considered for the first time. In total, 43 silicoflagellate species of 8 genera are identified. The prevalence of species of the genera Corbisema and Dictyocha in the assemblages suggest warm, close to subtropical conditions in a sea basin that existed in the Eastern Kamchatka region during the Middle-Late Eocene.
