Abstract
Dendrimer has become an attractive material in the field of catalysis and various dendrimer catalysts bearing active sites at the focal point, periphery, and core have been applied to a number of reactions. In particular, dendrimer makes itself attractive in the design of asymmetric catalysts by combining chirality or asymmetry with its highly symmetrical nature. This article describes the rational design of silica-supported chiral dendrimer catalysts for enantioselective reaction: one by stepwise propagation of dendrimers and the other by direct immobilization of ‘ready-made’ dendrimers on silica.
