Abstract

Xanthan gum supported ionic liquid [ImSi][PF6]@xanthan has been synthesized as a novel, efficient and recyclable heterogeneous catalyst by a simple method. The material has been characterized with the help of several spectroscopic techniques including FTIR, PXRD, TGA, XPS, SEM, EDX, and TEM analyses. The catalytic activity of the material has been evaluated by synthesizing a library of acridinediones. The catalyst very efficiently catalyzed the reaction giving products in excellent yields (above 90%) in short reaction time period. The catalyst was recyclable for up to five cycles.
