Abstract

As a high heat-resistant polymer, polyimide (PI) makes aneffective counterpart for the high heat-resistant silica aero-gel powder/polymer composite. The polyimide matrix gen-erally requires a multi-step drying process to synthesizepolyimide from polyamic acid (PAA), which removes thesolvent and air bubbles and imidizes the PAA. In addition, the aerogel pores in the silica aerogel/polyimide compositecan be preserved by the multi-step drying process.
