Abstract
This study was undertaken with the objective to focus the social entrepreneur accomplishment in the field of education in Coimbatore. The data was collected through the case study A; living legend Shri O. Arumugasamy was born in the year 1942 at Ottakamandalam village near Annur, Coimbatore district in Tamilnadu. He is an eminent industrialist and businessman and chairman of the Senthil group of companies comprising of mining, paper boards, bio-tech, food products, packaging, entertainment, education and charities. His life’s mission is to empower the students through free education. In fond memory of his beloved wife late Tmt. Vijayalakshmi, he established a Trust called Shree Vijayalakshmi Charitable Trust in 1990 in order to accomplish his life’s mission. The trust is rendering financial support to the meritorious students in the field of education. From 1990 onward a 80,000 students were benefitted and a total amount of Rs160 crores spent for this noble cause. Then he established Shree Vijayalasksmi SIV Matric Higher Secondary School in 2009 and providing absolutely free education to all the students studying in the school (2000 students from K.G to 2). His future plan will be establishing full fledged university with the ambition of providing 100% free education. By dint of hard work, uncompromising honesty, singular devotion and sincere efforts he developed his family, his industrial enterprises and did much for the upliftment of the society.
