Abstract

The presented work was undertaken with the aim to reach a more unified approach to data base management. It is proposed to base the various data base management functions on one principle. A special kind of linguistic expressions, called significations, may serve as such a common principle. The possibility, to apply those expressions in a uniform way to the various data base management functions, is illustrated. A short evaluation of the proposed approach is included at the end of the paper.
