Abstract

We examine the correlation between wet sliding friction behavior at the sliding speed of order of 1 m/s and bulk hysteretic loss property for elastomer compounds. The compounds are prepared with two styrene–butadiene rubbers of similar microstructure but different macrostructure: one with non-functionalized linear molecules of lower molecular weight while the other with functionalized star-shaped molecules of higher molecular weight.
