Abstract

The problem of organisational alignment has recently gained in significance, both in the theory and practice of management. In the era of economic crisis, when more and more companies change their strategies or even transform entirely their business models, it is essential to recognise whether the new concepts of operation are consistent with other elements such as the values prevailing in the organisational culture. The main aim of the paper is to analyse the impact of organisational alignment, particularly strategy and organisational culture, on organizational efficiency. The theoretical considerations are based on a literature study and results of discussions held in a focus group at a conference on “Time for growth. Strategic thinking at work and in everyday life”. As a result of the debates, advantages and disadvantages of organisational fit, as well as the relevance of match between strategy and organisational culture have been identified. In conclusion several methods for enhancing this alignment have been suggested.
