Abstract

Smallholder farmers constitute the bulk of the Nigeria’s agricultural force. Most of these farmers are concentrated in rural areas thus, limiting their access to timely and accurate agricultural information. Their inability to utilize vital agricultural information is due to personal and infrastructural constraints and other communication barriers. This study was therefore conducted to ensure farmers overcome the afore mentioned constraints through consolidating indigenous channels of communication and traditional ICTs to disseminate agricultural information to rural farmers in Nigeria. It is pertinent for Agricultural Extension Agents to consider and implement the adoption and utilization of this method to communicate agricultural information to rural farmers in Nigeria as well as other developing countries.
