Abstract

The present paper explains the efforts made in synthesizing Ni- Al2O3 nonocomposite coatings with enhanced properties by varying the additive concentration systematically. Microstructural, morphological and microhardness measurements revealed that the optimized additive concentration helped in improving the coatings properties considerably. The ceramic particles were distributed uniformly over nanocrystalline nickel matrix for the optimized additive concentration as evidenced from different characterization techniques. It was stressed that the addition of optimum content of additive is highly essential in order to obtain nanocomposite coatings with enhanced properties. Finally, the mechanism involved in improving the enhanced properties of nanocomposite coatings was described.
