Abstract
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) penalties are studied for continuous-time additive white Gaussian noise channels with white and Wiener phase noise. For white phase noise, recent results showing an unavoidable SNR penalty are extended to include uncorrelated phase-noise samples. For Wiener phase noise, bounds on the SNR penalty are developed for integrate-and-dump receivers that have limited time resolution.
