Abstract
The dimuon yield, integrated over an invariant mass range, M = 1.5−2.5 GeV from an expanding quark-gluon plasma is suggested as a signal for QGP formation. Such a signal remains unencumbered by the ϱ meson, J/ψ resonances, and the Drell-Yan contribution. A clear, if not clinching, confirmation of the QGP formation is provided by the γ/mass-intergrated dimuon ratio, which reaches a saturation value around p T ≈3 GeV.
