Abstract

In our tutorial on preprocessing, we have provided insight into the importance of preamplification for combating system noise. We have also shown that it is the energy, and not necessarily the power, in the signal that determines the performance of a processor algorithm. A future article will cover the whitening process when the noise has certain correlation characteristics, i.e., colored. There will also be a discussion on the difference between independent sources of noise and eigenvectors which show up in noise covariance matrices.
