Abstract

The in coordination of the traffic signal at intersections is a main reason of the decline of urban traffic capacity. Under the conditions of the existing transport facilities, the signal controlling design can effectively improve the traffic capacity of intersections. This article describes many methods of computing capacity of signalized intersection, but in view of the specific situation of each city, the conventional calculation methods is not effective, so this article describes the improved methods, and takes the multi-phase signalized intersection of Zhanqian road and Tanan road in Jiaozuo city as an example. By applying the calculation method, the traffic capacity at intersections is calculated and the efficiently optimized signal timing is designed, and then the influence of signal control on intersections is studied. Finally, we can see the optimization result clearly that simulated by Synchro.
