Abstract

Monitoring of static persons using ultra-wideband (UWB) sensors has become very popular in recent years. Analysis of this issue has shown that a key challenge to be addressed in this area is processing of raw radar signals to detect and locate people, and then, if it is requested, to monitor basic parameters of their vital signs. Motivated by attractive application potential of UWB sensors in this field, we survey our own and some related research results on monitoring of static persons in this paper. Moreover, some research perspectives in the aforementioned topics are suggested, too.
