Abstract

The problem of optimizing the signal/noise + interference ratio at the output of a matched filter (1) was considered by Manassa (see [1]) for a stipulated passband Δ f of the system and a Doppler frequency shift Ω D = 0. It was assumed that passive reflectors are small in size, have a high density, and are uniformly distributed in space. In this case the optimal spectral function is planar on the interval Δ f , while the signals corresponding to this spectral function have a side-lobe level equal to –13 dB at the output of the matched filter.
