Abstract

Noise and non-linearity characteristics are very important factors for wireless access systems using subcarrier optical transmission. The signal extraction with frequency arrangement (SEFA) is proposed for improving carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR) because the 3rd-order intermodulation distortion (IM3) produced by E/O can be ignored. Simulation results show that SEFA greatly improves the transmission performance. This technology will make possible cheaper E/O device implementation into a fiber-oriented wireless access systems.
