Sign determination of 13C 13C coupling constants by sign-labeled polarization transfer

Abstract

A new pulse sequence, which allows the determination of the signs of 13C- 13C J-coupling constants from natural abundance samples, is presented. The technique uses proton polarization transfer and proton decoupling. The signs of the coupling constants are manifested in the polarities of the resulting proton-decoupled 13C signals.
