Abstract

The power curves of Marine Energy Conversion Systems (MECSs) exhibit a sigmoid relationship. The Logistic and Weibull functions are examples of standard sigmoid functions used in this context. In this research, we performed a comparative analysis to explore the suitability of the most well-known sigmoid functions for modelling marine current turbine power curves effectively. It is demonstrated that the Weibull and logistics functions are suitable for simulating marine current turbine power curves with slight inaccuracy and complexity. The gen-erated model is validated using the results of the marine energy conversion system's experiments.
