Abstract

SIGGRAPH '92 in Chicago offered the future to a group of young students by inviting them to participate in the SIGKids '92 learning lab workshop. Computers, video, multimedia, LEGO/Logo, digital journal keeping, access to the Internet and interactive projects were explored by these bright young minds. At most education conferences, there is alot of talk about what does, could or should take place in the classroom. SIGKids went a step further. It created an ideal situation; a learning lab run by the students and their mentors. Volunteer mentors generously donated their time and skills and came from the university, industry and research communities.
