Abstract
Nursing staff are taking more short-term sickness absence and fewer longer episodes, according to a study of sickness absence patterns in two north eastern heath authorities. A greater proportion of nurses take multiple episodes of sickness leave, the study also showed. The figures are compared with comparable research done in 1960.
