Abstract

Si-Graphite composite was synthesized by the mechano-chemical process. HAADF analysis confirmed that silicon particles were uniformly distributed in the graphite matrix, and each silicon particle was completely covered by the multiple graphite layers. The discharge capacity of the silicon graphite composite material was as high as 1360 mAh/g and 74.4% of the initial capacity was retained after 300 cycles. Si-Graphite composite material could be utilized as a promising new anode material for the lithium ion secondary batteries due to the high capacity and outstanding cyclic performance.
