Abstract

This is the sad story of how a horse race was lost because the favourite, Colt 45 malt liquor, was prevented from leaving the starting gate. In this instance the proverbial door was shut before the horse could bolt. It is an object lesson in the commercial strength of trade marks, and the importance of effective and skilful brand management.
