Abstract

This paper proposes a new control method based on a source-current detection method suitable for active power filters with a high-order switching ripple filter. The proposed active power filter detects the converter current and the source current, and compensates the source harmonic current by using repetitive control as a conventional source-current detection method. In addition, it estimates and compensates for the load harmonic current just like a conventional load-current detection method. As a result, the proposed active power filter has a transient response as fast as a conventional load-current detection one has, and it also achieves an accurate harmonic compensation. Experimental results are shown to demonstrate not only a fast transient response but also an effective harmonic compensation performance in the proposed method along with those in a conventional methods.
