Abstract

Santianez writes about representations of war in literature and culture, focusing onthe Great War and the way modernist literature responded to it. He makes a comparative study of Henri Barbusse’s Le Feu: Journal duneescouade (Under Fire: Diary of a Squad) and EdlefKoppen’sHeeresbericht(Army Communique) in attempt to expand the conversation around modernist representations of war beyond Anglo-American texts.
