Abstract
AbstractMonkeypox is an endemic infectious disease commonly observed only in Central Africa; however in the last month, WHO considered it an international outbreak, with several cases described in a short span. Oral surgeons are exposed to patients at risk for monkeypox and some of the most prevalent lesions could be observed first in the maxillofacial region. The knowledge of the common signs and symptoms of the monkeypox and associated diseases is fundamental to the report and referral to infectious diseases centers for definitive treatment and public health control. This letter to the editor summarizes the associated diseases and common maxillofacial lesions observed in monkeypox infection.
