Abstract

The moral and ethical concerns that arise in the allocation of scarce mental health resources are discussed. Principles of distributive justice, an aspect of moral philosophy, are used to construct a framework for thinking about various ways of allocating resources. A scheme of rational deployment of services according to need is presented and briefly defended.
