Abstract

In this issue of Neuron and in Cell Reports, Fratzl etal. (2021) and Salay and Huberman (2021) identify the ventral lateral geniculate nucleus (vLGN) of the thalamus as a key regulator for adjusting defensive behaviors according to the level of perceived visual threat.
