Abstract

If an athlete has an episode of transient quadriplegia, no matter how brief, a careful work-up is necessary. But the debate about the applicability of the Torg ratio may make diagnosing cervical spine injuries less straightforward. And although definitive data about allowing such an athlete to return to play are lacking, many experts advise physicians to be cautious.
