Abstract

In recent years considerable progress has been made in understanding the atomic-scale structure of binary metallic glasses. On the experimental side, the three partial pair correlation functions have been determined for a variety of binary metallic glasses. On the theoretical side models have been constructed, mostly by computer calculations, which fit the experimental data quite well. However, in spite of this bulk of information there is still a lot of controversy about the construction schemes of the structure of metallic glasses.
