Abstract

Thin film transistor-Liquid crystal displays(TFT-LCDs) are universally used on mobile-phones, PDA, PC monitors and notebook PCs, even TV monitor market. TFT-LCD products were originally small, but have progressively increased in size, as new manufacturing processes, have enabled TFT-LCDs to take over most of the display market. Therefore, TFT-LCD products have expanded quite rapidly, leading to the need to meet tough requirements for manufacturing processes, including running a production line for 24 hours, real-time error detection, long lifetimes of the crucial parts, a low total average cost, high stability and high quality operation.The quality of short-circuit ring laser cutting must be maintained to ensure that an open circuit does not affect manufacturing operations after the short-circuit ring is cut. The required cut line-width is fixed and the variation rate must be small at a particular line-width. Minimizing the thermal interference and sharpening the edge of the short-ring cut is also important, to prevent the particles from being made uneven by the thermal-effect, which can peel off or drift away during subsequent manufacturing operations, risking faults in products. The optimal laser system and operating parameters must be selected.This study proposes a laser-diode (LD) pumped Nd doped solid-state laser system for long-term operation, with high stability, good power conversion performance and long lifetime to meet the requirement of the laser’s high stable output power. A cutting head and a linear-X table are selected to enable the focus plane to be cut with high precision, high stability, and appropriately controlled speed, to maximize production.
