Abstract

Background and Aim: Retrospective studies assessing the effect of the time interval between semen collection and IUI on pregnancy outcomes showed inconclusive results. Some studies indicated a beneficial effect on IUI outcomes of a short interval between semen collection and IUI, while others did not find any differences. To date, no prospective trials have been published on this subject. Therefore we investigated in a randomized controlled clinical trial (RCT) if a short interval between semen collection and IUI increases the cumulative chance of an ongoing pregnancy after six IUI cycles, compared to a long interval.
