Abstract

During the summer of 1965 the Shell Development Company conducted a shallow coring program in the Gulf of Mexico. The M.V. Eureka, a 200-ton vessel, served as a stationary platform. While drilling the ship maintained its position to about 1% of the water depth by means of two auxilliary engines. During drilling the ship might remain on location for as long as 50 hours.
