Abstract

Groups of 15 male and 15 female rats were given doses of 0 (control), 2·5, 25 or 250 mg dimethyl sulphide/kg/day for 14 wk. No effects on the rate of body-weight gain, intake of food and water, results of haematological examinations, serum-enzyme levels, urinary cell excretion, renal concentration tests, organ weights or histopathological examinations were attributable to the treatment. A no-untoward-effect level of 250 mg/kg body weight/day was therefore established.
