Abstract

There has been an increase in the risk profile of patients who are referred for cardiac surgery. This can be attributed to an ageing population who generally have numerous comorbidities, which may include dialysis-dependent end-stage renal disease (ESRD). This study compared the outcomes of cardiac surgery in dialysis-dependent patients compared with non-dialysis-dependent patients in a large tertiary centre.
