Abstract

Short term influences affecting growth and distribution of mangrove communities in the Sydney region. The aim of this study were to examine the effects of tidal and, briefly, seasonal variations (August-September 1983) on soil and plant parameters within selected mangrove communities in the Sydney area. Two healthy mangrove stands were chosen; one on the west bank of the Lane Cove River 2km upstream from Figtree Bridge, and adjacent to Kitty’s Creek. The second area was on Salt Pan Creek, 3.5km upstream from its junction with the George’s River, adjacent to the Padstow railway bridge.
