Abstract
Background: Recently presence of short tandem repeat (STR) polymorphisms in esophageal cancer related gene 2 (ECRG2; GenBank Accession Number AF268198) has been described to be a genetic risk marker for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) in China. In the present study we examined these STR polymorphisms in ECRG2 in Caucasian patients suffering from esophageal adenocarcinoma.
