Abstract

The effect of short-range correlations in the tri-nucleon is considered by employing suitable forms for the spatial part of the totally antisymmetric S-state wave function. The parameters of our trial wave functions, which are of product form with two-particle correlation functions introduced to simulate the presence of a soft repulsive core, are obtained by fitting the r.m.s. radius and the body form factor of the three-nucleon system. Using a modification of Srivastava's central velocity-dependent potential, we are able to obtain good agreement with the binding energy of 3H and the photodisintegration cross section of 3He, with the exponential wave forms.
